The Larrabee’s are home owners again

Posted in Family by david on the July 29th, 2009

Well we have officially been home owners again for about 2 weeks now – but we just moved in this past weekend.  The kids are taking it rather well, better than we (or at least I) expected.  The slept in their own rooms and have been good for the most part.  A bit more energetic and crazy, but its probably because they have more room to be crazy – and its a whole new world for them.

Since this time around we are in a new construction house its not the same as last time – there are still issues and bumps in the road but they are usually different than the things you have to deal with when you move into a house lived in for quite a while – like the last house we bought.  I have been keeping busy with mostly small tasks like hooking up the water line for the fridge and setting up the electrical for the dryer, while also trying to unpack and organize as much as possible as well.

Soon I am probably going to end up taking on a bigger task, like clearing all the hay from the yard that was put down for the grass seed, and trying to clear away the large quantities of rocks we are now proud owners of.  The kids helped me do a bit of that last night and had a blast.  We actually did our first little home improvement or customization if you will before we moved in – which was installed some lights along the retaining wall.

Not completely sure whats going to be next – we have quite a few things in mind – and I am sure there are more we haven’t quite thought of yet, so we shall see.

Some more zoo pics

Finally got the camera and uploaded the pictures we took at the zoo.  Looks like 11 new pictures in total.

See the July Album.

A few July Pictures

We were originally supposed to move to the new house on the 4th of July weekend, but closing got a little nudge, so we decided to make the best of it and plan some family fun.  We had a nice little family cookout on the grill, hot dogs for the kids, and crab legs for the adults.  Not something I would have originally thought to grill, but it turned out pretty well if I do say so myself.

Since it was a holiday weekend and we had an extra day off, we decided to head down to the Philadelphia zoo again, parking was pretty much a nightmare, but the zoo wasn’t as packed as I expected based on the parking situation.

I took Oliver on his first fishing trip that he enjoyed, so much so that we ended up going again a few days later – and he has been asking to go yet again.  He still gets pretty frustrated when the fish aren’t jumping out of the lake at him – but I think hes starting to get the hang of it.

Finally we took the kids over to Kirby Park to see the big fireworks show, as well as let off some little sparklers, smoke bombs, and poppers on our own the day before.

These were all taken on my phone, so perhaps not as good of quality as the others – but figured I would upload them to the site anyway.
