Sleepover at Grammy’s!

Posted in Family by david on the June 28th, 2010

Well this past weekend the kids went up to my mothers for the weekend.  From what I can tell they had a blast – my mom took some pictures which I just uploaded with the rest of our photos.  They did a lot of playing outside, eating and I am sure created plenty of chaos on the inside as well, and by the looks of the photos spent lots of time in comfy jammies.  Rumor has it, at least one (possibly more) tickle monsters kept the kids busy as well.

We snapped some photos of Summer before she went to her dress rehearsal and photos.  They came out pretty good.  Here is a sneak peak of her costume for the dance recital.

The Island Getaway is Over

As many know Kim and I went last week for vacation. This was the first time we went away without the kids for more than a few nights to NYC when I used to work for nyctrip. Overall it was a pretty good time, I didn’t update the blog with daily posts because the place we stayed didn’t include internet for free. I figured I could wait until we got home instead of paying $5 an hour to type away on the computer instead of enjoying the beach.
The trip was mostly just laying and relaxing in the sun, but we did try and take advantage of what was available as well. We went parasailing which was somewhat of a surprise since Kim is afraid of heights – but it was a pretty awesome experience. We took out a two person kayak into the ocean a few times, which was pretty fun – even though we kept getting spun around from either the current or our inexperience in a kayak. The resort was all inclusive, so we made sure to enjoy a few frosty beverages as well as an assortment of interesting meals. Keeping true to my trying different food while away we tried frog legs as well as various Conch dishes.
I went on a half day deep sea fishing trip, and brought in a pretty nice sized wahoo. I had a few fillets from that fish that night at dinner – can’t get much more fresh than catching and eating it shortly after. The fishing trip was pretty interesting, but in the end perhaps a bit costly considering what it’s like. We caught a few other fish, one of which was a yellow fin tuna that got bitten in half by a shark before it made it to the boat.

Well that’s a quick rundown of the trip – sadly today its back to real life / work.
