Another day of the same old

Posted in Family, Misc by david on the October 12th, 2007

Well not a ton going on lately, just working to pay the bills - and spending what little time we have at night as a family for the most part.  Oliver is sick again, he actually got sent home from school for it, just got over bronchitus and now hes got something else.  They always say this happens when kids start school, but I didn’t think it would be this excessive.

I have alot of photos that I have to upload to the site, but I have to get them off of Kim’s computer first.  It probably won’t be until the end or after this weekend - since this weekend is all ready packed full of things to do.

New plugin testing

Posted in Misc, Site Changes by david on the January 19th, 2007

I just installed a new plugin that allows me to better integrate the photo albums with the actual site. Depending on how it works out - expect some site changes.

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy thanksgiving to all of our friends and family!

ARG!

Posted in Family, Misc by david on the November 20th, 2006

Well I moved the site onto a server that I am using for other various website projects, and a bunch of problems have come of it. I won’t bore anyone with the details (this is a family blog, not ‘here is Davids rantings on stupid techinical problems’ blog), but long story short…..there was a problem with the previous hosting provider (which is still open), which made the site look like it was working fine in the new location and then out of nowhere the entire site no longer existed. I set up an account with another company for DNS management to resolve the problem (since it has been almost 2 days and my site, and email has been completely down for everyone and they havent even responded to my support ticket). This is a somewhat temporary solution since other domain registrars provide DNS management right with the domain registration (which i believe my old host does too - but it didnt work right, and thats what caused the site to be down for 2 days). So sometime soon I will probably transfer the Domain Name to another company that does DNS management, and cancel the extra DNS account, but for now I just am going to leave things as they are, and enjoy the site actually working for a change again.

In other news, our family photos are in their own subdomain now so you can get to them easily by simply going to http://photo.larrabeefamily.com

since the site has moved from a Linux shared hosting to a Windows Virtual Private server a few things had to change.  So if you for some reason had bookmarks or links directly to a picture - they are likely not to work anymore, also I have to modify all the previous blog entries so that the pictures and links show properly (so far I have updated everything from today back to the first day of our Orlando Vacation)

Let the improvements begin

Posted in Family, Misc, Work by david on the October 2nd, 2006

Well as you may or may not know, we have our second child on the way. So we are preparing the house for the arrival of this baby with various home improvement projects that we have been wanting to do since we moved “back to the valley”. The first of these is we are going to move Oliver’s room to what we used to consider our spare room, and his room will serve as the new baby’s nursery, thus providing us easier access to her room, and hopefully without disturbing his sleep….

So far the progress has been slow but I am going to try and keep pictures of the progress in another album Here
Step one is to take up the carpet, get rid of the wallpaper border, and strip the paint. Normally we would have just painted over the paint, but it was textured and there was at least 5 layers of about 3 different colors. Also I have gotten some of the primer done in the room as well.

Florida 2006 - Day 8 (Wet N Wild)

Posted in Family, Misc, School by david on the September 1st, 2006

Same start as every day, got some breakfast and then we headed over to Wet N Wild. I rode a couple of the “thriller slides” called “The Bomb Bay” and “The Blue Niagra”. We spent a little bit of time in the kiddy area as well. We were thinking of leaving for some lunch, and possible doing something else, and a pretty big storm rolled in. Actually much worse then Ernesto, but it didnt last long. We spent the rest of the day shopping, and driving around. So not many pictures today. They start on page 29.

Florida 2006 - Day 7 (Sea World - Round 2)

Posted in Family, Misc, Play by david on the August 31st, 2006

There were a couple extra pictures from the two days and today that I just uploaded. There are 66 new pictures in total, starting on page 21 of the album. On the night of the 29th we went to “Downtown Disney”, there were a couple pictures from there that we uploaded. Oliver found a Nascar car that he was rather found of, and then there was the attack of the JoJo’s.

The 30th was when Ernesto made a visit to Orlando - so we shopped in a mall for a bit, and then we just entertained ourselves in the room for the day.
Today (the 31st) we made a trip back to Sea World. The rest of the pictures uploaded today are from Sea World. We played a few games, and won some prizes, then played some games and lost, right before Oliver’s nap he had a blast in a little water playland.

Ten Year Reunion

Posted in Misc by david on the July 24th, 2006

Well kim had school before hand so we drove straight up to the reunion and then straight home. It was nice to see how everyone was doing. The class was nice enough to give us a gift because we have Larrababy Version 2.0 on the way, and I won the center piece!

Short Getaway….

Posted in Misc, Oliver by david on the June 26th, 2006

This past weekend we headed down to King of Prussia Saturday afternoon. We stayed in the King of Prussia area, and went out to dinner at one of our favorite restaurants Kildare’s with uncle Leo. We did a small amount of shopping in KoP and then went to bed.

Sunday we headed up to visit the Garner Quads. They were little angels, even with the influence of our little devil. It was nice to visit, thanks for the invite guys.

Next time we go down we will have to spend the entire weekend, we didn’t get to do anywhere near as much, or visit as many people as we would have liked.

ahhh how I love computers…..

Posted in Misc, Work by david on the March 15th, 2006

Well yesterday my computer decided it would be a good idea to reboot at random times. During this process it was also able to wipe my partion tables on my drive. Needless to say I lost most everything, because I am lazy and barely ever back up my data. Luckily for this site, all (or at least most) of all of our pictures are safe.Â

I have still yet to find what the problem is, after putting in a different drive the computer continues to reboot, all fans seem to be working properly, I have taken out any extra hardware except a single hard drive, dvd rom, and video card. Everything else is on board.Â

The next target on my troubleshooting adventure is the power switch or power supply. The motherboard has a LED that is lit when it gets power, which is still on, even when the machine reboots - so I am swaying towards the power/reset switch. Now I just have to want to work on it again.

The worst part of loosing this information is once I get it up and running again I get to begin the fun process of rewriting 30 hours worth of code.
